Lincoln Nautilus: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control / Front Wheel Speed Sensor. Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Remove the wheel and tire.
    Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
    • Disconnect the electrical connector and detach the wiring retainers.
    • NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer bar link nut.

      Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link nut. Position the wheel speed sensor wiring and bracket aside.
      Torque: 85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
  1. NOTE: Make sure that the sensor housing area is clean and free of foreign material before the sensor is removed.

    Using compressed air, clean the sensor housing area.
  1. Remove the bolt and the front wheel speed sensor.
    Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)

Installation

  1. NOTICE: Before installing a new sensor, inspect the sensor housing to make sure the sensor cavity is clean and free of foreign material or damage to the sensor may occur.

    Clean and inspect the sensor housing cavity.
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

    Camera. Radar sensor (if equipped).

    If a message regarding a blocked sensor or camera appears in the information display, something is obstructing the radar signals or camera images. The radar sensor is behind the fascia cover in the center of the lower grille. With a blocked sensor or camera, the system may not function, or performance may reduce.
