Lincoln Nautilus: Bumpers / Rear Bumper. Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

All vehicles

  1. Remove the rear bumper cover.
    Refer to: Rear Bumper Cover (501-19) .

Vehicles without trailer tow


  1. Remove the rear bumper.
    1. Remove the bolts from the back side of the rear bumper mounts.
      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
    1. With the help of an assistant, remove the rear bumper bolts.
      Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

Vehicles equipped with trailer tow

  1. On both sides.
    Remove the rear bumper to frame rail bolts.
    Torque: 103 lb.ft (140 Nm)

  1. Remove the rear bumper.
    1. Remove the rear bumper bolts.
      Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)
    1. With the help of an assistant, slide the rear bumper out from the frame rails.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
