Removal

  WARNING: The following procedure describes critical repair steps required for correct seat component installation. Follow all notes and steps carefully. Do not place any objects between the seat components and the body of the vehicle, nor any objects within a joint internal to the seat structure. Failure to follow step instructions may result in incorrect operation of the seat components and increases the risk of serious personal injury.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Both seat backrests

  1. Remove the rear seat cushion.
    Refer to: Rear Seat Cushion (501-10B Rear Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Remove the load compartment luggage cover.
  1. Remove the load compartment floor cover.
  1. If equipped.
    Remove the LH side storage bin retainers.
    1. NOTE: The retainer covers have tethers on them and do not fully come off.

      Position aside the retainer covers.
    1. Remove the retainers.
  1. If equipped.
    Remove the LH side storage bin.
  1. If equipped.
    Remove the RH side storage bin retainers.
    1. NOTE: The retainer covers have tethers on them and do not fully come off.

      Position aside the retainer covers.
    1. Remove the retainers.
  1. If equipped.
    Remove the RH side storage bin.

RH seat backrest

  1. Remove the RH rear seat backrest rear nuts.
    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)
  1. Disconnect the RH body harness-to-rear seat backrest electrical connector.
  1. Remove the nuts and the RH rear seat backrest.
    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

LH seat backrest

  1. Remove the LH rear seat backrest rear nuts.
    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)
  1. Disconnect the LH body harness-to-rear seat backrest electrical connector.
  1. Remove the nuts and the LH rear seat backrest.
    Torque: 52 lb.ft (70 Nm)

Both seat backrests

NOTE: These steps are only necessary when installing a new component.

NOTE: LH rear seat backrest shown, RH rear seat backrest similar.

  1. If equipped.
    Remove the power fold seat motor.
    Refer to: Power Fold Seat Motor (501-10B Rear Seats, Removal and Installation).
  1. Release the U-clip and remove the backrest recline handle.

  1. Remove the outboard side shield.
    1. Remove the fastener.
    1. Remove the fastener.
  1. Remove the fasteners and the inboard side shield.

  1. Detach the rear center seatbelt lower anchor.
    1. Remove the fastener.
      Torque: 35 lb.ft (47.5 Nm)
    1. Route the seatbelt through the upper backrest cover.

NOTE: Follow the unique instructions or graphic for this step in the installation.

  1. Remove the bolts and separate the rear seat backrest from the rear seat backrest riser.

Installation

  1. NOTE: During installation, make sure the seatbelt webbing is not twisted and the seatbelts and buckles are accessible to the occupant.

    NOTE: Transfer components as necessary.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Install the rear seat backrest bolts and tighten in the sequence shown.
    Torque: 48 lb.ft (65 Nm)
